Chasing the wind
“Meaningless! Meaningless!” says the Teacher. “Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless Ecclesiastes 1:2 (NIV).
A dreamer?
Perhaps deluded?
Philosophical?
Albeit confused?
Yet filled with paradox,
The preacher, wise or lost in madness?
In the pursuit to become,
In retrospect I beheld-
Neither closer nor farther from the starting point.
Yet, the night is far spent,
And lo…a chasing after the wind.
The race was real
Perhaps more real still,
From home to the isles, coasts, and oceans afar off,
Searching for the dream they call American.
A glory elusive or perhaps hidden beneath vanity’s veil
Since the eyes are not satisfied with seeing.
A dollar short or a cent more,
Often in need, either in want,
Yet in toil, logic fails while understanding satisfies.
The key of life?
Must be an ancient secret, a riddle unsolved, knowledge yet to be gained.
Alas, in the restlessness of the night about to break,
A still small voice whispers loudly,
The key is with the Creator, He holds the code.
So, I turned my heart to seek and search,
To know the unseen who sees,
The uncreated who creates,
The source of all that exists.
Alas it was revealed to me,
And finally, it became clear why Moses made his choice
Instead of owning the treasures of Egypt.
As I beheld Him who is invisible,
Sprawled in kingdom glory and dominion power,
I discovered the great reward, the ‘real hustle’,
Seek ye first the kingdom and its righteousness.
Then my soul understood wisdom.
