“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast”. Ephesians 2:8 (NLT)

Can’t you see?
Your existence, your life, your very soul,
All hang by threads of borrowed breath

Your possessions, achievements, your lofty goals,
Are nothing but moments passing by
You boast in ignorance
Defiling his name with reckless words

In arrogance, you cast aside
His teachings, not regarding their importance

You scorn him, push him far away
As though a shadow in the night
Yet, in a flash, He could withdraw
His very breath out of your lungs
Your very soul, extinguishing its light

But in His boundless, tender grace,
He lovingly desires that no soul perish
That all might seek His holy face
And heed His tender, loving call

At His command, the winds and sea obey,
And in an ardent plea, He utters

“Turn to me and be saved,
all you ends of the earth;
for I am God,
and there is no other.”
